< Back Renewed Scents by Samantha In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, experiencing the devastation and despair, Renewed Scents was created by a frontline hero, inspired to encourage everyone to seek daily self-care routines to combat stress, anxiety and tension. Renewed Scents was founded in 2020 by a dual-certified Adult and Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner. While the cruelty of the pandemic instilled fear among the masses, healthcare providers had to be brave enough to serve. We turned into the harbingers of hope. Nearly 700 million people worldwide live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $2.15 per day. Sub-Saharan Africa experiences the highest rates, where approximately one in three people live under these conditions. In the United States, Black buying power is estimated at $3 trillion, yet less than one-eighth of that amount is reinvested in communities of origin. According to Brookings.edu , the average white family’s net worth ($171,000) is nearly ten times that of the average Black family ($17,150). Internationally, the disparities are even more pronounced. These disparities demonstrate the persistence of systemic barriers that contribute to intergenerational poverty across the African diaspora, both domestically and internationally. Our marketplace serves as a foundational economic initiative in the fight against intergenerational poverty. Through our work, we actively invest in community-led programs, support businesses that uplift historically underserved populations, and redirect resources back into the communities that need them most. While this marketplace is only one part of a broader strategy, it represents our tangible commitment to creating sustainable opportunity and empowering the African diaspora worldwide. FIRM FOUNDATION When Jesus declared, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40), He established a Kingdom standard: how we treat the vulnerable is how we treat Him. Scripture echoes this call in Jeremiah 22:3: “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor… Do no wrong to the resident alien, the fatherless, or the widow.” This is gospel instruction, a command rooted in Christ’s call to love, mercy, and justice.
